Job Summary

Kforce has a client seeking a Mid-level System Administrator in Huntsville, AL. This role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including web servers. Responsibilities include performing software installations and upgrades, monitoring system performance, ensuring data integrity and recoverability through backups, and developing standard operating procedures. The administrator will also conduct routine hardware and software audits and maintain a comprehensive configuration database.

Must Have

  • Install, configure, and maintain operating system workstations and servers, including web servers
  • Perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages
  • Schedule installations and upgrades in accordance with IT policies and procedures
  • Monitor and tune the system to achieve optimum performance levels
  • Ensure workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions
  • Ensure data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations
  • Develop and promote standard operating procedures
  • Conduct routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library
  • BS or BA degree
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Active Directory
  • Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification
  • VMware Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) certification
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification
  • Understanding of NIST 800 series publications and Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) compliance
  • Familiarity with system accreditation and authorization and the FBI's ATO processes

Good to Have

  • VMWare vSphere 7 experience
  • Cisco Networking experience
  • Dell Server and SAN Storage hardware experience
  • Experience evaluating, documenting, and managing NIST 800-53 control implementations
  • Experience with GRC tools (RiskVision, Xacta and JCAM)

  • Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages
  • Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures
  • Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels
  • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions
  • Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations
  • Develops and promotes standard operating procedures
  • Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation

Requirements

  • BS or BA degree
  • Microsoft Windows, Active Directory
